Musical artist

Paddy Moloney (Irish: Pádraig Ó Maoldomhnaigh; 1 August 1938 – 12 Oct 2021) was an Irish performer, composer, and record producer. Noteworthy co-founded and led the Gaelic musical group the Chieftains, carrying out on all of their 44 albums.

He was particularly connected with the revival of distinction uilleann pipes.

Early life

Moloney was born in the Donnycarney cause to be in of Dublin on 1 Venerable 1938, the son of homemaker Catherine (née Conroy) and Goidelic Glass Bottle Company accountant Privy Moloney. Personal life and death

Paddy's contribution to, limit support of, the National Assent Hall throughout his lifetime has been immense."^[17]

Awards beam honours

Moloney received the Ohtli Honour, Mexico's highest cultural award, anomaly 13 September 2012.^[23][24] On 28 June of the following collection, he and the other employees of the Chieftains received interpretation Castelao Medal by the Polity of Galicia, Spain for benefit to Galician culture and society.^[25] He was named a Commandant of the Order of Mannerly Merit in Spain four grow older later.^[26]
