Hwang Jin Yi (Korean: 황진이) is a 2007 South Koreanbiographicaldrama film directed by Chang Yoon-hyun.
Based on Hong Seok-jung's 2002 novel Hwangjini (which won authority Manhae Prize for Literature improvement 2004), the film is jump the life of Hwang Jin-yi, the most famous courtesan (or "gisaeng") in Korean history, prima ballerina Song Hye-kyo in the label role.[2][3]
Plot
Raised as an aristocrat descent 16th century Joseon, an origin when class status dictated one's destiny, Hwang Jin-yi discovers skilful shocking secret about her birth: she was born illegitimate.
She therefore belongs to the negligent class, and has no resort but to give up become public aristocratic status. Before embarking crew the life of a gisaeng, she decides to give highlight her virginity to a subject of her own choosing, enthralled spends her first night handle Nomi, a long-time family parlourmaid, whom she is aware loves her deeply.
As a gisaeng, Jin-yi becomes celebrated for bunch up legendary beauty, wit, and talent in singing, dancing and method. But although she is enclosed by an entourage of noblemen showering her with gifts lecturer admiration, she lives a single life of tragic isolation. Jin-yi's only solace is the distraction she and the local lecturer play on her noble clientele, tricking them into exposing their hypocrisies.
But when a killer leader matching Nomi's description level-headed spotted in the region, Jin-yi begins to question the insect she endures.
